Dazhai and the Jinkeng terraces spread across a larger valley with several high viewpoints. Cable access can reduce climbing, but distances between views remain substantial.
Choose Dazhai when photography, broad mountain scale or an overnight is the purpose. Choose Ping’an when the group wants beautiful terraces, a village lunch and a comfortable return to Guilin. In Dazhai, select one or two viewpoints connected by the current cableway and paths. Do not promise a sunrise, sunset and same day Guilin return unless the timing is genuinely possible.

Winter reveals the engineering of the contours but may look brown. Ask for a current local update a few days before travel and value the landscape that actually exists.

Longji is not a viewing deck built for tourism. Zhuang and Yao communities have shaped the slopes over generations. An overnight creates quieter evening lanes and a chance for early light without leaving Guilin before dawn. The tradeoff is luggage. A beautiful room high above the road may involve many wet steps. Pack one small case, confirm porter service and ask whether the room has heating or effective cooling for the season.
Road comfort and the final handoff
A private vehicle gives direct pickup from Guilin or Yangshuo, space for rain layers and a controlled return.
