Investor Week: Shanghai and Shenzhen Itinerary Template

Build the week around decisions, not city names

An investor week is not a sightseeing itinerary. It is a sequence of meetings that must preserve preparation time, confidentiality and the ability to recover when one discussion runs long. Start with the fixed commitments, then add flights, rail, hotels and vehicles around them.

Shanghai and Shenzhen work well together for finance, technology, manufacturing and partner meetings, but the transfer between them consumes a meaningful part of a day. Place the intercity movement where it protects the most important conversations rather than choosing the cheapest departure.

Days one and two in Shanghai

Use the first afternoon for arrival, hotel check in and one light internal briefing. A long haul passenger should not begin with four external meetings. The next day can hold a focused sequence in Lujiazui, the Bund area, Jing’an, Hongqiao or another cluster, but crossing the city repeatedly wastes the schedule.

Send every tower name in Chinese and English, the company contact and the expected entrance. Some buildings require registration before arrival. The chauffeur should receive the final sequence through one authorized coordinator, not conflicting messages from every passenger.

Move to Shenzhen with a protected buffer

Direct flights are practical for many schedules. High speed rail can also work, but the station transfer and baggage process must be included in the calculation. Choose the connection after comparing the actual Shanghai hotel, Shenzhen hotel and meeting locations.

Do not place a critical Shenzhen meeting immediately after the scheduled arrival. Weather, air traffic, rail access and city traffic can all move the real arrival time. A protected evening provides space for a team dinner, briefing or recovery.

Days three and four in Shenzhen

Group meetings around Futian, Nanshan, Qianhai or the relevant industrial district. Shenzhen distances look manageable on a map until peak traffic and controlled tower access are included. A full day vehicle gives the team a private place between appointments and keeps documents, jackets and presentation materials together.

If the itinerary includes a factory or research site, collect the exact gate, host number, visitor requirements and photography rules. Industrial visits often take longer than an office meeting and should not be treated as a quick stop.

Vehicle and operations structure

A premium sedan suits one principal and an assistant. An executive MPV is usually more useful for three to five passengers who need to talk between meetings. Larger delegations may use a lead vehicle plus a van, with one dispatcher controlling both.

• Confirm working hours, overtime, parking and extra distance in writing.
• Use one live itinerary with version control.
• Keep passports, devices and confidential documents with the passengers.
• Share flight and train numbers, not only departure times.
• Nominate one person who can approve changes and additional charges.

Can the same chauffeur work in both cities?

Usually local chauffeurs are assigned in each city while one operations team connects the itinerary and passenger preferences.

Can meetings be added during the week?

Yes, subject to vehicle hours, distance and access. Additions should be approved through the named coordinator.

Which vehicle supports confidential calls?

An executive MPV provides more separation and working space, but no moving vehicle should be treated as a guaranteed secure room.

Can Hong Kong be added?

Yes, but border permissions and the exact crossing must be planned. Do not treat Hong Kong as a normal Shenzhen neighborhood transfer.

• Day 1-2 Shanghai: PVG arrivals, Lujiazui towers, evening briefings in Xintiandi.
